133 blacks thrown overboard at sea. The ship captain, claiming insufficient provisions to feed the white crewmen, let alone the blacks, throws the blacks overboard and then seeks insurance compensation for the slaves. Judge Mansfield rules in favor of the ship owners who, claiming the lost blacks as private property, are compensated for their loss.
